Eva married Horace Desmond 'Dem' Mutton (1917-1958) about 1944, reportedly the couple snuck away to Guildford to get married, and upon returning to Kelmscott had to contend with some surprised and miffed members of the both families, who then put on a celebration at the Kelmscott Hall so the event was properly acknowledged.

Eva's in-laws, the Mutton family, had previously lived in Casino, NSW, where Dem was born. The family moved to W.A. firstly at Mundijong, but had moved to their River Road orchard in Kelmscott by 1932, when William Henry Mutton had registered a Dodge vehicle with the Perth Traffic Department.
