War Service
On 22 Mar 1942 Samuel enlisted in the Volunteer Defence Corps at Armadale, and was allocated to the 2nd (Fremantle) VDC Battalion's 'D' Company where on 1 Jul 1942 he was promoted Lance Sergeant. On 11 Aug 1944 Samuel was discharged at his own request.
