Pre War

Archie, his parents and two siblings departed London on 24 Jun 1910 aboard the SS Otway. Archie's early career rates several mentions in newspapers in connection with breaking up SP Betting rings. However in late 1930 he was required to cut down a man who had hung himself, Soon after in 1931 he was the subject of an assault at the Cottesloe Policer Station, the first of two assaults on him during early 1931. During December 1932 Archie resigned from the Police force after pleading guilty to stealing a £5 postal note. He was fined £10 with costs. [1]

On 2 Aug 1931 Arche had married Lillias Isobel White (1913 - 2006) in Perth. Lillias died on 27 Nov 2006 in Salters Point.

Electoral Roll entries: 1931 at 10 Boreham street, Cottesloe, police constable (Police number 1633); 1943 at Roleystone, orchardist.

War Service

On 22 Apr 1942 Archie enlisted in the Volunteer Defence Corps at Armadale and was allocated to the 2nd (Fremantle) VDC Battalion, On 6 Nov 1943 he was issued with a new Army number W62332 to replace W67617, and he was discharged at his own request on 29 Jul 1944.

Post War

Electoral Roll entries: 1949 - 1954 at Raeburn road, Roleystone, orchardist; 1958 at 9 Lyall street, South Perth, civil servant; 1963 - 1968 at 2 Riverview terrace, Mt Pleasant, inspector; 1977 - 1980 at 35/10 Roebuck Drive, Manning, retired. In April 1954 Archie is a Vermin Inspector and has prosecuted a case in the Southern Cross Court.

Fremantle shipping records list Archie and Lillias as having returned from a 4 week holiday on 5 Jul 1961 from Singapore aboard SS Gorgon.
