Pre War
During 1913 Harold had married Mary Ann Bingham (1888 - 1968) in the Williams district. Mary Ann died on 24 Jun 1968. They had a daughter Mary Louisa Dyson (1915 - 1973).
Electoral Roll entries: 1916 at Williams, labourer; 1917 - 1943 at Fremantle road, Armadale labourer.
War Service
On 26 Apr 1942 Harold had enlisted in the Volunteer Defence Corps in Armadale and was allocated to the 3rd (Swan) VDC Battalion's H.V. Company. On 28 Feb 1943 he transferred to the 2nd (Fremantle) VDC Battalion and at some point was transferred to the 1st (Perth) VDC Battalion as it was as a member of that unit that he was struck off strength at Nedlands on 23 Nov 1943.
