Early Life
Sophie Haynes (nee Betts) was born in Toodyay 1857. Her father was Charles Bates aka Betts (1823-1904) and and her mother was Eliza Stephens Betts (1821-1900)
Marriage
Sophie married twice, first to Arthur Albert Cooke(or Crooke) (1866-1942) in 1884 at Footscray on 12 November 1884 and divorced on 25 November 1901. Her second marriage to Ernest Leslie Haynes (1876-1930) in 1902 was in Victoria. No children were recorded.

Sophie died at the age of 52 years on 7 August 1909 in North Perth. Trove Report: West Australia 5 August 1909, funeral yesterday being 4 August 1909.

Sophie's husband, Ernest, was a schoolmaster at Kelmscott.
