Alfred was married twice. His first marriage to Maia "Emma" Louise Antoinette Trossaert, no date given of divorce. His second marriage to Muriel Alice Newman Anderson (nee Waddell) on 6 July 1915 at Dunedin New Zealand. They had 6 children, Victor Gerald, Charles, Claude, Rudolph, Maia and Joan.
