Pre War
On 8 Dec 1925 Gordon married Elsie Mary Maude Staddon (1908 - 1998). Elsie died on 29 Aug 1998 aged 90 in Midland. They had four children including Robin James Eatts b. 1928, and Margaret Maude Eatts b. 1935.

War Service
On 29 Mar 1942 Gordon enlisted in the Volunteer Defence Corps and was posted to 'D' Company 2nd (Fremantle) VDC Battalion. On 26 Apr 1944 he was discharged at his own request, after 2 years and 29 days.
