Pre War
War Service
enlisted in 1938 for 12 years.
on 2 Apr 1941 Tom was granted his first Good Conduct Badge.
Ex-POWs rescued by US Submarines after the sinking of the Rakuyo Maru state that he was aboard the vessel when it left Singapore for Japan before being sunk in the South China Sea by the American submarine on 26 Jan 1945. Authorities were advised that he had survived and was in a POW camp in Tokyo. However, it appears that he was subsequently killed during an American air raid on Tokyo on 13 Jul 1945. Buried in a USAF Mausoleum in Yokahama on 30 Nov 1945.
