On 26 Feb 1945 Fred was charged with 1) Failing to appear at a Place of Parade appointed by his Commanding Officer on 26 Feb 1945, and 2) a similar charge for later the same day. Fred was evacuated to [[2/1st Australian Convalescent Depot]] on 29 Jun 1945, and he was sent on the same day to the [[116th Australian General Hospital]]. On 15 Nov 1945 he was charged with Failing to appear at a Place of Parade appointed by his Commanding Officer, for which he was fined 10/- ($1). On 22 Feb 1946 Fred was posted back to Queensland, where he entered training with the 3rd Battalian of the [[Australian Reinforcement Training Battalion (Jungle Warfare)]]. Training completed he embarked aboard [[SS Canberra]] on 12 Mar 1946 in Brisbane for Rabaul on New Britain where he disembarked on 29 Mar 1946. He served on New Britian with the [[1st Australian Supply Depot Platoon]] until 21 Jun 1946 when he was again posted to [[Western Command Recruit Reception & General Details Depot]], this time to take his discharge which took place on 11 Jul 1946. War Service

Fred enlisted in the CMF on 13 Feb 1942 at Goomalling and was called up for full time service on 14 Apr 1942. On 18 Apr 1942 Fred was posted to Western Command Bulk Issue Petrol and Oil Depot. on 1 June he entered 110th Australian Base Hospital, returning to his unit on 6 Jun 1942. On 11 Nov 1942 he enlisted in the 2nd AIF changing his identification number to WX34913. From 19 Nov until 22 Dec 1942 Fred was outposted to Mullewa, and he was granted proficiency pay, backdated to 1 Jul 1943.
