Pre War

Eric grew up on the Traill-Nash family property 'Glen Eland' on Albany Highway in Kelmscott. The family business was an orchard.

War Service

Eric enlisted as Air Crew on 5 Jan 1944 at No. 4 RAAF Recruiting Centre in Perth, and 10 days later entered the No. 5 Initial Training School RAAF at Clontarf. On 22 May 1944 he transferred to the No. 9 Elementary Flying Training School RAAF at Cunderdin to begin training with aircraft involved. Eric was promoted to Leading Aircraftman on 24 Jul 1944 before his next posting which was to the No. 5 Personnel Depot RAAF in Subiaco. They in turn posted him on 16 Sep 1944 to the No. 1 Personnel Depot RAAF at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.


On 10 Oct 1944 Eric joined the No. 1 Wireless Air Gunners School RAAF at Ballarat where he trained until 18 Mar 1945. The next day he was again in the No. 1 Personnel Depot RAAF at the MCG after which he was posted to the No. 4 School of Technical Training RAAF in Adelaide on 16 Apr 1945. With the completion of the war, Eric was transferred on 27 Aug 1945 to the No. 5 Personnel Depot RAAF to undertake his discharge which occurred on 28 Aug 1945 at his own request.

Post War

Electoral Roll entries include:

1954 to 1958 at Albany highway, Kelmscott, cadet photographer; - 1968 at 1980 Albany highway, Kelmscott, orchardist.

In 1962 Eric married Ronda Betty Laney (1926 - 1997). Ronda died on 1 Dec 1997 in Serpentine.

The Funeral service for Eric Green Traill-Nash was held on 21 September 2015 at St Stephen's Anglican Church in Serpentine.
