War Service
Only partial records exist for Albert's time in the AIF.
A month after entering camp, Albert was allocated to the Camel Corps reinforcements and he travelled with them to Port Suez where on 11 Dec 1917 he entered the Australian Base Depot.
It appears that he was allocated to the 15th Light Horse Regiment as a result of the reorganisation of forces in the Middle East on 1 Jul 1918 but his records tell us nothing of what he was doing before then.
On 26 Oct 1918 Albert was admitted to hospital with Influenza, and received treatment until 7 Dec 1918. Returning to his unit he was briefly made an acting Corporal until he again was hospitalised on 22 Feb 1919.
Between 8 Mar 1919 and 18 Apr 1919 Albert was a patient at the 14th Australian General Hospital at Abbassia, Cairo.
He was able to rejoin his unit on 22 Apr 1919 and remained with them until he was sent back to Australia. Discharged at 5th Military District on 9 Sep 1919.
Post War
In 1920 Albert married Alice Victoria James. Alice died aged 90 on 24 Aug 1970 in East Perth. No children yet discovered.
Electoral Roll entries - 1925 - 1931 a teamster back in the bush at Jarrahdale; 1936 a faller at Mornington Mills; 1937 a labourer at 37 Ellen street Fremantle; 1943- 1972 a soldier at 52 Nelson crescent, East Perth. Albert moved to Mandurah shortly before his death in 1977.
Albert didn't bother to change his employment listing after WW2, when he served from 11 Jul 1940 till 7 Nov 1946 as a Sgt at the Marrinup POW Camp. (Citizens Military Force Reg No. W 242663).
