On 13 Dec 1942 he was charged with Conduct to the prejudice of good order and military Discipline for which he was fined 10/- ($1). On 2 Jan 1943 he was transferred to the 8th AASC and later to Transport training units before on 17 Apr 1943 being posted to the 138th Australian General Transport Company where on 1 Jul 1943 he was deemed proficient. From 9 until 29 May 1944 he was in the 110th Australian Base Hospital (Perth) with conjunctivitis, and again he was with them from 30 Jun until 11 Jul 1944.
