On 9 May 1942 she was posted to [[No. 1 WAAAF Training Depot RAAF]] then located at Toorak in Melbourne, and between 2 and 13 June 1942 participated in a Drill Training Course run at HQ Ascot Vale. Pre War

Five year old Evelyn, along with Nora (8), Vera (12), Kenneth (15) Margery (21) and their father Edward (45) sailed for Fremantle on SS Balranald from London on 21 Aug 1924. In 1930 she is in a photo taken at the Mandogalup, Peel Estate 7 Mile School, with her residence being Block 667 of that estate.

War Service

Evelyn enlisted on 8 May 1942 as an Aircraftwoman and was mustered as a Trainee Cook at No. 4 RAAF Recruiting Centre. On 9 May 1942 she was posted to No. 1 WAAAF Training Depot RAAF then located at Toorak in Melbourne, and between 2 and 13 June 1942 participated in a Drill Training Course run at HQ Ascot Vale. This was followed from 15 June to 9 Aug 1942 with a Cooks Course, both of which she passed and was now a Group IV Cook. On 14 Aug 1942 she was posted to Station HQ RAAF Base Point Cook. Evelyn was promoted Temporary Corporal on 1 Apr 1944 and then enjoined a second brief period of Leave without Pay from 27 Jul - 4 Aug 1944. Evelyn was transferred to No. 1 Service Flying Training School RAAF at Uranquinty, New South Wales on 1 Aug 1944. However, on 11 Sep 1944 she was posted back to RAAF Base Point Cook in Victoria. On 27 Jan 1945 her posting changed to Air Force HQ (US Airforce), and she remained there until 17 Sep 1946 when she transferred to No. 1 Personnel Depot RAAF to prepare for her discharge which took place on 19 Sep 1946.
