Joseph's Regimental Number changed to WX25522 when on 19 Jul 1942 he enlisted in the 2nd AIF. At time of change to the 2nd AIF he was with 9th Battery, 3rd Australian Field Regiment, and remained with them, with his rank confirmed on 27 Dec 1942. Joseph was granted 3 days compassionate leave on 23 Jan 1943.

Joseph's Regimental Number changed to WX25522 when on 19 Jul 1942 he enlisted in the 2nd AIF. At time of change to the 2nd AIF he was serving with the 9th Battery, 3rd Australian Field Regiment, and remained with them, with his rank confirmed on 27 Dec 1942.
