Joan enlisted in the Australian Women's Army Service on 15 Apr 1943 at Claremont. On 18 Apr 1943 she was sent to the [[6th AWS Training Company]] in Claremont after which she was posted to the [[118th Australian General Hospital]] at Northam on 7 Jun 1943, employed as a Cook TG II. On 31 Jan 1944 Joan was AWOL for 1 hour for which she received a reprimand, and 10 days Confined to Barracks.

War Service

Joan enlisted in the Australian Women's Army Service on 15 Apr 1943 at Claremont. On 18 Apr 1943 she was sent to the 6th AWS Training Company in Claremont after which she was posted to the 118th Australian General Hospital at Northam on 7 Jun 1943, employed as a Cook TG II. On 31 Jan 1944 Joan was AWOL for 1 hour for which she received a reprimand, and 10 days Confined to Barracks.
