Pre War
In the 1891 English Census, Harold's names were reversed, i.e. William Jesse Harold. The address was 30 Bishop street, Coventry. He and Hannah were married in Coventry in the last quarter of 1909. Edith Hannah died in Armadale on 10 Aug 1968, aged 82.
On 21 Aug 1920, together with their two sons aged 7 and 9 they sailed for Fremantle aboard the SS Ormonde. Harold was described as being a miner. Harold and Hannah made several trips to England between the wars. On 15 Sep 1934 Harold sailed from London for Fremantle, departing on 15 Sep 1934, aboard the SS Orford having stayed at 36 Silverton road, Coventry. On 4 Oct 1938 Harold and Edith returned to Fremantle from London aboard the SS Stratheden having departed London on 2 Sep 1938.

War Service
At Armadale on 22 Mar 1942, 'Charlie' enlisted in the Volunteer Defence Corps and was allocated to the 2nd (Fremantle) VDC Battalion. On 1 Jul 1942 Charlie was promoted Corporal in the Transport Platoon of 'D' Company. Between 20 Oct and 10 Nov 1943, he attended a D & M Course at Karrakatta. Along with the rest of his battalion he was placed in the Reserve on 1 May 1945.
Post War
Electoral Roll entries: 1949 at Fifth road, Armadale, dairy farmer; 1954 - 1958 at Forrest road, Armadale, dairy farmer.
Harold and Edith arrived back in Fremantle from London on 29 Sep 1950 aboard the SS Himalaya having sailed from London on the 6th.
