Ray was a student of the Byford Primary School from 1931 until 1934, and left school at the end of 1938.
War Service
In Claremont on 13 Jun 1942, Raymond enlisted in the Volunteer Defence Corps with Army Number W82419, and was allocated to the 3rd (Swan) VDC Battalion. Transferred to the 2nd (Fremantle) VDC Battalion on 28 Feb 1943 he was issued a new Army Number (W94209). Raymond was Struck off Strength on 23 Nov 1943.
Post War
On 16 Jan 1954 Ray married Dorrit Tresidder in St Paul's Church Nedlands.
