Pre War
During 1930 Hammond married Muriel McClelland Roberts (1903-1952). Muriel died on 14 Feb 1952 in Bedfordale. They had six children.

War Service
On 22 Mar 1942 in Armadale, Hammond enlisted in the Volunteer Defence Corps, and was posted to the 2nd (Fremantle) VDC Battalion. On 8 Sep 1944 he was promoted Corporal, and on 1 May 1945 transferred to the Reserve.
Post War
Electoral Roll entries: 1954 - 1958 at 'Runnymede' Bedfordale, orchardist; 1968 - 1977 at 21 Oxford street, Kensington, orchardist; 1980 at 29 Gardner street, Como, retired.
During 1962 Hammond married Margaret Amelia MacDonald (1905 - 1992). Margaret died in South Perth on 17 Aug 1992, aged 87.
