On 13 August 1956 he emigrated to Western Australia on board the "Moreton Bay" with his father Desmond W. Carroll and mother Florence E. Revell and siblings.

An application to City of Gosnells by Mrs. Karon Carroll for planting a tree and installing a plaque in memory of her husband at Mary Carroll Park. The plaque reads "This tree was planted to celebrate the life of Dennis David Carroll (5/3/1951-2/9/2008)".
