On 10 Sep 1945 the Liberty ship struck a mine and was damaged in the South China Sea off Labuan, Malaya. She arrived at Manila, Philippines where she was declared a constructive total loss. One officer was crushed by a lifeboat and killed instantly and several other men were wounded as a result of the explosion caused by the mine.
