Brief History

This unit was raised on Rottnest Island in July 1940, with 30 beds to service the fixed defences and support troops on the island. In June 1942 the unit was renamed 39th Australian Camp Hospital attached to the Fremantle Fortress. With the winding down of the fixed defences, the Camp Hospital was disbanded in February 1945.
