Brief History
In mid-1941 three of the small dental units working at the Northam Dental Centre, were the 293rd Dental Unit, the 302nd Dental Unit and the 303rd Dental Unit. In May 1942 the 302nd Dental Unit moved to Chidlows, and the 303rd Dental Unit to Fremantle. meanwhile in late 1941 the 291st Dental Unit had been raise to work in Perth, and the 292nd Dental Unit to service Swanbourne. The 304th Dental Unit was raise din early 1942 to work on Rottnest Island.
The October 1942 re-organisation saw all these small units amalgamated to form the 75th Australian Dental Unit]]. 292nd and 293rd Dental Units formed HQ Section at Claremont, while the 302nd formed A Section at Chidlows, the 303rd formed B Section at Fremantle, the 304th formed C Section at Rottnest, and 291st formed D Section in Perth. The 410th and 411th Dental Units that were in the process of being raised at that time became E Section at Bushmead and F Section at South Guildford. Over the next three years some of the sections moved as needs arose, and finally with the reduced number of Army personnel in Western Australia, the 75th Australian Dental Unit moved to Camp Pell in Victoria in January 1945 where it was disbanded.
