In March 1943 the unit was expanded to become the 3rd Australian Services Training Depot, and in May 1943 their title changed to 3rd Australian Specialist Services Training Centre.

With the withdrawal of troops from Western Australia during 1943, the unit was disbanded in January 1944, although John's records caste some doubt on these dates.
