Brief History

4th Infantry Division Supply Column was mobilised in December 1941 at Balcombe in Victoria with detachments sent to work with the 6th Infantry Brigade at Dandenong. These detachments moved with the brigade to Gherang in February 1942 and in March the brigade and supporting units moved to Western Australia. In July 1942 a re-organisation of 4th Infantry Division AASC units occurred leading to the creation of 24th Australian Company AASC attached to the 13th Infantry Brigade which then moved to Dandaragan, and then to Moora in December, and Chidlows in January 1943. In February they moved with the 13th Brigade to the Northern Territory where they relieved 7th Aust Company AASC at 53 mile in March 1943 where they remained until August 1944. At that time the brigade was re-organised on a Tropical Scale and 24th Australian Company AASC was disbanded to form 52nd Transport Platoon, 250th Supply Depot Platoon nd 251st Supply Depot Platoon which accompanied the 13th Brigade to New Britain in November 1944.
