Filed Security Sections were formed in April 1942, with '''3rd Australian Corps Field Security Section''' formed at Mt Lawley.  In May the unit was renamed as 'K' Australian Field Security Section. By October 1943 the decrease in troop numbers in WA allowed the unit to relocate to Melbourne. Based at Swanston street, they were responsible for security matters in country areas and had detachments at Albury (NSW),Seymour, and Queenscliff. In June 1944 they left for Merauke in Dutch New Guinea, with a detachment on Thursday Island. In July 1945 the unit moved to Enoggera in Queensland where the unit was disbanded.
