Brief History
3rd Australian Water Transport Company (Small Craft) was to be raised in Western Australia in April 1943, but with demand for service low the role continued to be provided by the 78th Water Transport Section within the 15th Fortress Company. The nucleus later became the 51st Australian Water Transport Operating Company (Port Operating), but was limited to a single operating Section. In June 1944 are-organisation saw them renamed as the 51st Australian Port Operating Company and they appear to have operated out of Fremantle until they were disbanded in March 1945.
