Brief History
In July 1942 AWAS were recruited for signals work. the 2 Signals Training Battalion (AWAS) was formed at Ivanhoe, Victoria and was staffed from men returning from AIF (Middle East) School of Signals. Two companies trained new recruits and one conducted technical training. They moved to Bonegilla, Victoria in November 1943 where they joined the Central Signals Training Centre and in January 1944 they absorbed their sister unit the 1st Signals Training Battalion (AWAS). They continued to train AWAS personnel until the end of the war.
