Brief History
23rd Line of Communication Salvage Section was formed along with the HQ 5th Salvage Depot at Karrakatta in March 1942. using this as a base they had detachments around Western Australia recovering material to be processed at the Salvage Depot. With troops numbers increasing an additional unit was established (38th Line of Communication Salvage Section) and they both remained active despite the drop in troop numbers, during late 1943 and 1944, until the end of the war and beyond.
