Brief History
Following a restructure, in may 1944 the 22nd Australian Mechanical Equipment Park Company was formed out of the 2/2nd Railway Construction Company (Mechanical Equipment at Adelaide River and it then moved to Winnellie in June. In July they joined those troops charged with preparing transit camps for the troops that were to undertake the invasion of Ambon Island in the Dutch East Indies. When this invasion was abandoned, the unit moved to Granville in Sydney in November 1944, and then to Rocklea in Queensland in January 1945. From here they managed all mechanical equipment being sent to forward areas for the rest of the war.
