Laid down, 19 Feb 1943, as SS Thomas Corwin a Maritime Commission type EC2-S-C1 hull (Liberty ship) under Maritime Commission contract (MCE 531) at Premanente Metals Richmond Yard One, Richmond, CA. She was launched on 19 Feb 1943. Delivered on 5 April 1943 to the War Shipping Administration, and allocated, 5 Apr 1943, to the War Department, Transportation Corps. During World War II USAT Thomas Corwin was assigned to the Asiatic-Pacific Theater.
USAT Thomas Gorwin was delivered on 18 Dec 1946, to the Maritime Commission National Defense Reserve Fleet, Columbia River Group, Astoria. She was sold for scrapping, 23 Oct 1964 to Zidell Explorations Inc., for $50,779.79,
