Remarks

Named after Miguel Josep Serra, a Spanish Franciscan friar who was an explorer and missionary. He founded a series of 21 Franciscan Missions in Alta, California. At the completion of the war ownership transferred to the US Department of Commerce, before it was sold in 1959 to be scrapped in Seattle during 1960.


The ship was built in 41 days. Her war service was in the Pacific Ocean, carrying troops and stores from Queensland ports to New Guinea.
