This ship was laid down in August 1943 as the SS Sea Cat a C3-S-A2 Liberty Ship, but allocated to the War Department. On commissioning she became USAT Sea Cat assigned to the Asiatic-Pacific Theatre. Between October 1943 and February 1944 she underwent conversion to a troop ship.
On 30 Sep 1946 the Sea Cat was returned to the War Shipping Administration for retention in the National Defence Reserve Fleet. On 13 Apr 1948 she was delivered to the Luckenbach Steam Ship Co. under lease before being sold to them on 11 Mar 1949 and renamed SS Lena Luckenbach On 1 Apr 1968 she was again sold, this time to the Overseas Carriers Corporation who renamed her SS Overseas Lena. A year later on 4 Apr 1969 they renamed her SS Overseas Eva before selling her for scrapping on 26 Feb 1971 to Dah Yung Steel manufacturing Co. Ltd.
