General Information

Formed initially with 30 beds in January 1940 at Woodside as Camp Hospital Woodside. However, by December 1941 it had grown to 210 beds before a general re-organisation of Camp Hospitals saw them renamed as 32nd Australian Camp Hospital. As a result of reduced troop levels in South Austalia, it was reduced to 60 beds before being relocated at Wayville where it worked with the 34th Australian Camp Hospital. In October 1942 these two hospitals wee amlgamated to form 52nd Australian Camp Hospital.

In November 1942 the 32nd Australian Camp Hospital was reformed at Sandy Creek, South Australia before moving to Woodside in December. In February 1945 they moved to Tennant Creek in the Northern Territory with detachments at staging camps along the road north of Alice Springs. As traffic on the road reduced, so was their work, and in July they moved to Alice Springs where they remained until the end of the war.
