Brief History

Originally formed as the 7th Fortress Company AAMC, in February 1942 at Larrakeyah, it moved to the Kahlin Hospital in February 1942. In March as part of a re-organisation of Medical resources it expanded to 300 beds and in June became known as Northern Territory Force Garrison Company. In September the name changed again to Darwin Fortress Camp Hospital, and then expanded to become the 129th Australian General Hospital in June 1943. With troop numbers decreasing in the Northern territory, they left for Narellan in NSW during February 1945, and were disbanded in March.
