Brief History
This unit was mobilised at Melville in December 1941 and was attached ot the 13th Aust Infantry Brigade for troop carrying roles. The unit moved to Bellevue in April and Karrakatta in May 1942. In June the unit was concentrated at Melville and Moora before being re-organised in July 1943, becoming the 124th Australan General Transport Company with four platoons. In June 1943 they moved to Bushmead, and then to Salters Point in September before yet another re-organisation in November that saw then have a Company HQ element, six transport platoons and a four section workshop. They operated from Salter Point until the end of the war.
