Brief History

In May 1944 the 2/48th Transport Platoon, the 2/47th Transport Platoon and the 2/166th Workshop Platoon were formed from the breakup of the 2/166 General Transport Company at Wongabel. The company was a part of the 1st Beach Group which then moved to Deadman's Gully in June where they waited for a role in the Pacific Theatre. As a part of the 9th Australian Infantry Division , they were to capture the area around Brunei Bay. The Platoon moved to the staging area on Morotai in March 1945 and landed on Labuan in June. The Platoon worked around the Labuan Base area until the end of the war.
