Between 1899 - 1904 she became Boer War Transport No. 18. She took Lord Kitchener, Sir John French and Sir Ian Hamilton from Cape Town to London at the end of the war. During August 1906, she was berthed at Valparaiso during an earthquake and was used as a refugee accommodation ship.
On 25 Jun 1918 she was torpedoed and sunk by U-Boat U-73 while on passage from Liverpool to Philadelphia while 35 kilometers southwest of Skerryvore, with the loss of six lives.
