Brief History

Initially known as the Dubbo Dental Centre it is thought to have been formed in 1941 to service troops in the local training areas. In March 1942 the 220th Dental Unit, 229th Dental Unit, 236th Dental Unit, 237th Dental Unit and 247th Dental Unit were at Dubbo. The 220th Dental Unit left for Queensland in July 1942, but he remaining small units amalgamated to create the 62nd Australian Dental Unit. During 1943 E Section and F Section were added to the existing HQ, A, B, C and D Sections.

In April 1944 the unit left Dubbo with HQ and F Sections moving to Liverpool, A and E sections to Cowra, nd B, C and D sections to Wagga Wagga. In December 1944 the unit was intact at Liverpool with the exception of D Section which was at Parramatta. E and F Sections were disbanded in February 1945 with the rest of the unit continuing until the end of the war.
