Brief History

In August 1942 No. 1 Sub Depot' of 1st Base Depot became a separate accounting unit with its headquarters at Bandiana in Victoria where they controlled MT spares. A detachment at Broadmeadows which handled complete vehicles. In 1943 when the ordnance depots were again re-arranged 1st Base Ordnance Depot (2) was formed at Bandiana to control MT spares in all advanced depots. In October they had sections working from Broadmeadows, Fitzroy and Seymour. In June 1944 their strength was 35 officers and 980 men as they continued to control the stocks of MT spares until the end of the war.
