Brief History

A part of the coast defence for Port Moresby, Boera Battery was on a ridge behind Boera headland, 16 km north west of the Paga Battery from where it could cover the northern approaches to the harbour. Construction had commenced in May 1943 by 'R' Heavy Battery, with it being operational by July. In March 1944 'O' Heavy Battery (Coast) took over manning the battery until July 1944 when it was dismantled and closed.
