Brief History

Raised in late 1940 as the 5th Fortress Company AAMC, they serviced only those gun batteries on the mainland. In December 1941 they were mobilised full time and moved to Keanes Point (Mosman Park) in January 1942 before settling longer term at Claremont in April. Here they operated an Advanced Dressing Station for all of the units in the North Fremantle area. In September 1942 they were re-organised as the 60th Australian Camp Hospital with 30 beds. As troop numbers were reducing, in October 1943 the unit was disbanded and incorporated into the 40th Camp Hospital.
