Brief History
No. 14 (Pilots) Advanced Flying Unit was formed at R.A.F. Station Ossington, Nottinghamshire on the 26th of January 1942 from No. 14 Service Flying Training School. It relocated to R.A.F. Station Banf, Banffshire, Scotland on the 25th of May 1943, also operating from RAF Dallachy, and RAF Fraserburgh. No. 14 (Pilots) Advanced Flying Unit was disbanded on 1 Sep 1944. The Airspeed Oxford was the sole aircraft type used by the unit for pilot training. Support aircraft included the Avro Anson Mk. I, D.H.60 Moth and even the Airspeed Horsa Mk. I glider.
