General Information
The original staff departed Melbourne on 19 Aug 1916 for Egypt. They occupied Egyptian Army barracks at Abbassia on the outskirts of Cairo from August 1915 until 1919.
In addition to war casualties the hospital also treated men with a range of illnesses and diseases including malaria, dysentery and pneumonia during the campaigns in the Sinai and Palestine.
