Brief History

This unit was raised within the 13th Line of Communication Signals in Melbourne in February 1943 to take over the signals system at Milne Bay in New Guinea. They moved to Yeerongpilly in Queensland in March and then to Milne Bay in April. In June a detachment moved to Goodenough Island. In September the unit left a detachment at Milne Bay, and moved the rest of the unit, including the Goodenough detachment moved to Buna. In February 1944 the Milne Bay detachment rejoined the unit in Buna. Following the capture of Madang, troop numbers inNew Guinea decreased, with Lae being developed for future operations.
