Brief History
109th Australian general Hospital was formed at Woodside in South Australia during December 1941 with an establishment for 600 beds. In March 1942 it moved to Northfield, before moving to Gawler in April where they established a Camp Hospital. In May they established another Camp Hospital at Sandy Creek, and then another at Linden Park.
In August 1042 they moved to Alice Springs, wher ein December 1944 they were reduced in size to 200 bed capacity before being relieved in July 1945 in order to be disbanded. Two men died of illness while posted to this unit.
