Brief History
This unit was formed at Merredin, Western Australia in September 1942 as a result of a re-organisation of the Engineer Works Services. While it was at Merredin a sister unit 69 Australian DCRE (Works) was at Northam. In February 1944, 66 Australian DCRE (Works) moved to Northam to replace 69 Australian DCRE (Works) which had moved to Karrakata. The unit remained at Northam for the rest of the war.
