Brief History

Also known as Camp Hospital Cowra, or 202 Camp Hospital, it was raised in September 1940 to operate a 180 bed camp hospital to service training camps in the area. While they were renamed 202 Camp Hospital in April 1941, the name didn't catch on and so when hospitals were re-organised in June 1942 they became a 60 bed 11th Australian Camp Hospital which continued to support the training units in the area until the end of the war while 15 Camp Hospital was responsible for the POW Camp.
