Brief History
Established in Codford England in September 1917 from the incomplete 16th Field Company - Engineers, then part of the 6th Division that was forming until men had to be used to reinforce the first 5 divisions.
Army Troops Companies usually held heavier equipment than the field companies, and carried out many of the more complex tasks. They were also used for more complex construction behind the lines, bridging and water work, and the 1st Army Troops Company were involved in the construction of heavy artillery emplacements.
