Brief History

Western Command Army Trades Training Depot was raised at Claremont during August 1941 as a holding unit for tradesmen awaiting testing and posting. It also served to hold men attending technical training and it also undertook trade testing. In March 1942 it moved to the Ascot Racecourse where in May it was renamed Western Australia Line of Communication Army Trades Training Depot. In September it relocated o Karrakatta and in January 1943 it was renamed 4th Australian Army Trades training Depot. In January 1944 it moved again, this time to Claremont where it was disbanded during March 1944.
