Brief History

Formed in August 1944 from air crew and air packing platoons of the 1st Air Maintenance Company at Chermside in Queensland. A part of the AASC contribution to the 26th Infantry Brigade Group's resources for the landing on Tarakan. In March 1945 they moved to Morotai Island, before the landing at Tarakan in May 1945. A detachment of th11th Australian Air Maintenance Platoon moved to Labuan in August for air supply work in Sarawak while the remainder of the platoon worked at Tarakan until the end of the war.
